Hello cuteness

Today, super-van-man, you're 2 months old.

You've grown and changed so much, something I'm sure we'll think every month and year that passes. You're wonderful.

You smile like crazy now, and coo and squeel. One of your favorite places is the changing table - unless it accompanies a clothing change. We have also developed a fun game during a change: you stick your cute baby fat legs straight out and I cheer you on and clap - you love it.

Your curiosity has reached new heights with your ability to follow objects, and when you stare at my face, it's so intense, I'm convinced you have every freckle of mine memorized. You've also become more focused on our mouths when we talk to you - I feel like you are soaking up the world sometimes and always learning new things.

Happy birthday to you, my wondrous boy.
We love you like crazy.

Battle of the bands

Currently, I'm listening to two songs.

The gymini is playing Mozart, and our Ipod has some bump-and-grind song going. The combination is quite hilarious. Our life hasn't changed at all, nope, not at all.

Looking through the computer

I am so thankful for technology. All week, we've been able to video skype with Tim for FREE.

Here was the face looking at Tim through the computer...

We survived the week quite well, but as Kim said, we were lonely. We missed Tim.

He boards a plane in Seattle today, and arrives back in Munich on Wednesday. Hallelujah. Then, thanks to Infineon's (via Germany's lifestyle) overly generous time-off benefit, Tim will be taking the rest of the week off work. Yay, yay, yay!

Safe flight, butter. We can't wait to see you!!

Twos

Why do words sound so much cuter in twos...

"Did you go poop-poops?"
"Good job, going toot-toot!"
"Time to go night-night"

Of course, it also helps if there's an infant present as you are saying these things.

It's you and me, babe

Tim left on a jet plane yesterday. Thankfully, I do know when he'll be back again! Wednesday.

Through Tuesday, you may spot him gallivanting around Seattle... ok, ok, so he wont be gallivanting anywhere. He has serious business to attend to. But still, he's already off to a good start with dinner at our old favorite, Belltown pizza, last night. Lucky boy!

Nothing short of serious business could have allowed this trip though... It makes me a single parent for the week! Ah!

Today is Van and my first full day alone. I have a feeling it's going to help that Van has recently started smiling. One big gummy smile is all it takes for me to melt and forget about all else. Actually, just one big blue eyed look, or even one whiff of his sweet baby smell does it. I love him.

Hurry home butter, we miss you like the dickens already!

Bright-eye'd...

...and bushy-tailed, at 3am!

Van has been a great night sleeper, sleeping 3-4 hours between feedings. He can have his off nights, and I'm sure he'll go through phases, but so far, this is generally true.

However, too much stimulation or activity will fully rouse the little rascal at night during/after a feeding, which causes at least a half hour of awake time before falling back asleep. In this case, he needed his diaper changed, twice, and Tim and I were chatting during his feeding/change. Lesson learned. While the diaper change was unavoidable, we're more careful now about lights/talking/etc at night. Silly, novice parents!

...But, just LOOK at that cute little face! No matter the time of day (or night), we can't help but love hanging out with him.

Thanks Aunt Christie!

Someone loves his gymini... and so does mom. It gives me a solid 10-15 minutes to eat breakfast each morning.

Thanks for the baby shower gift, Aunt Christie. xoxo
